Masking of the national insignia for the Mitsubishi J2M3 and J2M5 Raiden in 1:32 scale in the version without a white outline.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Dead Design set covers two subversions of the Mitsubishi Raiden naval interceptor, as the name gives them, and that in the form of the insignia without a white outline. A sprayed hinomaru suits above all a dark green upper surface, where the glossy edge of a decal film would give itself away the moment the model was first lit.
The Raiden was designed as a land-based interceptor of the Imperial Japanese Navy, that is, with the emphasis on rate of climb and hitting power instead of agility. The engine was set back and drove the propeller through an extension shaft so that the nose could take an aerodynamically clean, bulbous form; cooling was handled by a fan behind the spinner. The view from the cockpit on landing was problematic because of that, and the machine had a reputation for being demanding to fly.
Lay the work out: first finish the camouflage, including any mottling, and only then the insignia. The bulbous fuselage of the Raiden has a pronounced curvature, so check the circumference of the circle on the side from several directions, to keep the insignia from looking crooked to the eye. Apply the paint at right angles and thinly, remove the masking once it has set and run a finger over the edge: whatever you can feel will be visible after clear coating.
The aircraft itself has to be bought separately for this set.
