Ki-43-II Hayabusa canopy masks for the inner and the outer face, 1:32 deal with the canopy framing from both sides, so that the interior of the Hayabusa looks finished.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of painting templates for the canopy glazing of a model of the Japanese Nakajima Ki-43-II Hayabusa army fighter in 1:32 scale. The set is cut for both faces of the clear part, that is for the outer surface and for the inner face of the frames. That is what sets it apart from the single-sided variant for the same type.
An interior you can see into
The Hayabusa was a light, agile fighter with a roomy, well-glazed cockpit and a canopy made up of several glazed panes. In a large scale that means a large area of clear plastic and a lot of frames. If they are painted only from outside, every frame seen from the side or from above gives away that it is transparent from inside. The inner masks make it possible to give the frames the interior shade, so that the cockpit holds together as a whole: a fitted-out seat and instrument panel then do not stand behind glass that is plainly painted only on the outside.
The inside before the outside
The inner face has to be sprayed before the glazing is fitted and glued to the fuselage. It pays to reckon with that while planning the build of the cockpit, not at the moment the fuselage is already glued.
Degrease the clear part before applying and let it dry. Press the edges of the templates down with the blunt tip of a pair of tweezers, above all on narrow frames. Spray in thin coats and rather several times, so that no noticeable step builds up on the frame. Take the mask off once the paint has dried by pulling along the surface, never straight up and never with the edge of a knife.
