In the large 1:32 scale every simplified shape shows on the pylons, so an accessory like this makes sense.
The F-35 is built to carry its armament inside the fuselage in low-observable mode. Where a low signature is not the priority, though, it can carry weapons on pylons under the wing as well, and the load it carries grows markedly by it. A modeler who wants to build the aircraft in such a configuration will appreciate more faithfully shaped pylons with fine detail that cannot be made in plastic.
The set suits a modeler who is building a large F-35 model and wants to show it with external stores. It assumes experience with photo-etch and patience in seating small parts. Before buying, check that your kit is in the same scale and that the configuration you have chosen uses the external pylons at all.
