1:32 Luftwaffe Wheel Chocks are resin chocks for under the wheels of the kind used at German wartime airfields. An accessory for dioramas and display case scenes.
Responsibility details are not available.
This small resin set captures the wooden stops that Luftwaffe mechanics laid under the wheels of aircraft so that the machine would not start moving during an engine run or while the weapons were being loaded. The castings correspond to 1:32 scale, so they fit large models of fighters and of lighter machines, and they suit a plinth with a figure just as well as a more extensive airfield scene.
An aircraft model standing on a bare board looks like an exhibit in a display case. Yet it is enough to add a few objects that belonged on an airfield apron and the viewer sees a story at once. Chocks joined by a rope, traces of oil under the engine or a discarded tarpaulin turn a model into a scene from the running of a field airfield. These small things also give away the scale the scene is built in.
Wood stands out when you go over a base in a light brown shade with a thin coat of a darker color and then blend that with a damp brush in the direction of the grain. The metal eyes and handles need only be suggested with a dark steel shade and the edges lightened slightly. Finally, a fine dust in the color of the surrounding ground helps, applied with a dry brush mainly to the lower edges, which rubbed against the ground.
Figures, a plinth and grass material are not supplied with this set.
