A resin cockpit of the Italian Macchi C.202 fighter in the early rendition, 1:32 scale replaces the simplified inside of a plastic kit.

The set replaces the interior of the cockpit of the Italian Macchi C.202 fighter with a separate resin assembly. According to the name it matches the early rendition of the cockpit. In the large 1:32 scale a great deal really is visible under a canopy slid back, so the shaped seat, the framework and the broken-up side walls do visible work in a finished model. Neither the aircraft nor its plastic parts are included in the package.
The Folgore came about by re-engining the earlier type with an inverted V12 Daimler-Benz, built in Italy under license. It thereby gained the speed and the rate of climb it had previously lacked and became the best Italian production fighter of its day. It was committed over North Africa, Malta, the Mediterranean and on the Eastern Front. Its weak point remained an armament built around two fuselage machine guns, and a fairly cramped, narrow cockpit.
Before you reach for the glue, try laying the parts dry between the fuselage halves: with cast cockpits the inner walls of the plastic usually have to be thinned. Rinse the castings in warm soapy water, so that the primer holds. Cut the casting blocks off and level the area with a file. Join them with cyanoacrylate, which, unlike cement for plastic, does not attack resin. Paint and weather the interior before you close the fuselage up.
