The New Ware 1:32 Mask Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 EXPERT is a cut mask set in the widest scope for the large 1:32 scale. On a large model every inaccuracy shows, and that is exactly where an accurate mask pays off most.
Responsibility details are not available.
Self-adhesive cut masks for building the Fw 190D-9 fighter in 1:32 scale. The EXPERT designation says something about the scope of the set: it is the most complete variant, which covers a wider range of areas than the basic levels, so only a few places are left during the build where you have to help yourself out with your own tape. The set is tailored to one specific Hasegawa kit.
The Fw 190D-9 is a late version of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighter, in which the original radial engine was replaced by a liquid-cooled inverted V12 Junkers Jumo 213. The change of powerplant called for the nose and the rear of the airframe to be lengthened, so the machine has a markedly more slender silhouette than the earlier versions with a radial engine. The annular radiator in front of the engine does at first glance resemble a radial powerplant.
In 1:32 scale the areas are large and the viewer's eye comes closer. A cockpit frame of uneven width or a slightly rippled edge on a color transition are immediately obvious on a large model. A cut mask keeps a constant width along its whole length and can be used on both sides of the model with the same result. On a large canopy you also avoid the unpleasant job of trimming tape with a knife directly on the clear part, which easily scratches the glazing.
This is a masking accessory for the build, not a model. Neither the kit nor the paints are included in the package.
