A photo-etched set in 1:32 scale for adding detail to a model of the Italian Macchi MC.202 Folgore fighter. The parts are of thin sheet metal.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Macchi MC.202 Folgore was an Italian single-engine fighter used during the Second World War. It was powered by a liquid-cooled inverted V12 derived from a German design built in Italy under license. Against the older Italian machines with a radial engine it had a considerably cleaner nose and better performance, and so it was among the most capable Italian fighters of its day.
This is a photo-etched accessory in 1:32 scale. Photo-etched parts are made by chemically etching shapes into thin sheet metal, so they have sharp edges and a thickness that cannot be achieved in a plastic part. The individual elements are held on the fret by small tabs and their breakdown is given on the box and in the instructions supplied.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard support, not by breaking them out, otherwise they bend. Make the folds along the scored lines, best in a bending tool or between two blades. Metal does not hold with cement for polystyrene: use super glue applied on the tip of a wire, and for larger surfaces an epoxy with a longer setting time. Degrease the surfaces before painting and lay on a primer, otherwise the shade will not stay on smooth metal.
The set suits modelers who have already worked with photo-etched parts and want to lift the level of detail in a large scale where a plastic part is too thick to do the job. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
