A set of kabuki masks for the glazing of the jet-powered Me 262 A-2 in a large scale. It contains parts for the outer and the inner face of the canopy and two national insignia masks.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Sturmvogel was the bomber form of the Messerschmitt Me 262 and carried bomb racks under the forward fuselage. The glazing stayed identical to the fighter version, and it is precisely that which decides how the model is masked. It consists of three separate sections: a fixed windscreen at the front, a hinged center section in the middle and a fixed cover at the rear that continues the fuselage decking. Each of them has framing of its own and an edge of its own that has to be kept crisp.
The frames on this type are fairly dense and, with a span of over thirty centimeters, the inner face of the glazing stays clearly visible. The box therefore carries parts for the outer and the inner face, so that after spraying the framing comes out just as precisely from the inside as from the outside. The carrier is Japanese kabuki paper, which can be laid into a curve without tearing and leaves no adhesive residue on the clear part once lifted.
Degrease the clear parts before the masks go on and let them dry perfectly. Apply the paint in thin coats so that it does not run under the edge, and lift the film before the finish has cured completely. The aircraft kit is a separate product.
