A set of Montex 1:32 masking templates for the Messerschmitt Bf 109E-3 is intended for painting the frames of the glazing from the outer and the inner side. It is not a model but an accessory for a build.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of masking templates in 1:32 scale for the famous German fighter of the early Emil series. The name gives the version for the outer and the inner side, so the cockpit frames can be brought out from both views. The item has nothing to do with a kit in the sense that it contains no plastic parts – it is purely an aid for painting.
The Bf 109E-3 was among the versions with which the Luftwaffe entered the fighting over Poland, France and England. It was powered by an inverted Daimler-Benz DB 601 twelve-cylinder with direct fuel injection, thanks to which the engine did not cut out under negative g. The Emil had angular, heavily framed cockpit canopies, and that is exactly why masking is rewarding work on this type – the frames form the striking graphic of the whole build. The E-3 version differed from the later Emils in the arrangement of the armament in the wing.
First spray the frames with a thin coat of the shade that is to be under the camouflage and let it set. Any leak will show in that coat and is easy to correct without touching the final color. Then apply the camouflage in two or three light passes and look the edges over against the light between them.
