This is not an aircraft kit but a detail accessory for a plastic MiG-29UB model in 1:32 scale. The set is etched from thin metal sheet and concentrates on the landing gear: on the legs, their struts, the hydraulic lines, the doors and the lining of the gear bays. These are exactly the parts that are necessarily simplified in plastic, because a mold cannot produce them at a realistic thickness. The maker is the Czech firm Eduard.
The MiG-29UB is the two-seat combat trainer version of the MiG-29 fighter, with an extended tandem cockpit for instructor and pupil. The rugged landing gear with its large wheels was designed for operation from less prepared surfaces, and it tends to be clearly visible on a model, because the aircraft is typically displayed on the ground with the bays open.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface rather than by twisting them — metal cracks at the edge and leaves burrs. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two blades, so that the edge is crisp and straight. Glue with super glue applied on the tip of a toothpick; on larger areas a slower-setting glue helps, as it leaves time to adjust the part. Degrease the metal before painting and lay down a primer meant for metals, or the paint will crack when handled. Paint the bays before closing the fuselage up and bring out the detail with a dark wash at the end.
