A 1:32 decal sheet for the Moggy display scheme carried by the Eurofighter Typhoon FGR.4 of the Royal Air Force display team in the 2024 season.
Responsibility details are not available.
Each year the Royal Air Force puts one Typhoon into the role of solo display aircraft and usually has it painted in a scheme recalling some chapter of its own history. For the 2024 season the aircraft was given the nickname Moggy and a color scheme that links the modern jet with its namesake from the Second World War, the propeller-driven Hawker Typhoon attack aircraft. Spectators at air shows thus saw two generations of the same name in a single pass.
The FGR.4 designation belongs to the British multirole version of the Eurofighter, which handles air combat as well as attacks on ground targets and reconnaissance. The decals are printed for 1:32 scale, that is for the largest commonly built scale of modern fighters, where even the fine artwork of a display scheme shows to advantage. With a model like that it pays to look the decals over before application and to plan the order in which they go on.
Display schemes of solo aircraft tend to be complex and last a single season in service, so photographs and printed sheets preserve them longer than the aircraft itself. The form captured here no longer flies over the heads of spectators.
The sheet is sold on its own, without a kit and without painting masks.
