A set of 3D-printed and painted interior on decal paper in 1:32 scale for a model of the North American P-51D Mustang fighter from the Quinta Studio brand. It is neither a kit nor a model in its own right but an accessory replacing part of the internal equipment of a plastic model.
The set is cut for the P-51D Mustang kit in 1:32 scale from Trumpeter. This detail matters here: interiors for the Mustang in the same scale carry very similar names and differ precisely in which plastic kit they match in shape. They could not be chosen by the type of aircraft alone.
The three-dimensional parts are printed and painted straight away, so hand painting and accenting of small cockpit features falls away. According to the name they are laid on decal paper, so they transfer onto the model much like decals. Do not use decal softener, however, as it would damage the printed resin.
The P-51D is the best-known form of the Mustang: a bubble canopy, a lowered fuselage spine, 12.7 mm machine guns in the wing and a license-built Packard Merlin engine with a two-stage supercharger. Thanks to its great range it escorted bomber formations all the way to targets deep inside Germany. The cockpit is clearly visible under its extensive transparent canopy, so interior detail is worth having on a finished model.
