Panavia Tornado GR.1 - a resin cockpit set, early version, 1:32 is a detail accessory from the Czech manufacturer Aires, not a kit of an airplane. It replaces the simplified cockpit from a plastic kit with a more faithful interior.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a detail set, not a model of an airplane. The resin accessories of the Czech manufacturer Aires are among the classic goods for modelers for whom the interior from the box is not enough: a resin casting carries sharper and finer relief than can be injected into plastic, so the instrument panels, the side consoles and the cockpit walls look closer to reality once painted. The designation of the early version means that the set keeps to the form of the cockpit from the earlier period of service, when the equipment of the aircraft had not yet gone through the later modifications. The large 1:32 scale is a rewarding one for such an accessory: you can see into an open cockpit and the difference from the plastic original is obvious at first glance.
The Panavia Tornado is a twin-engine combat aircraft with a variable-geometry wing, developed by an international consortium of manufacturers from Germany, Great Britain and Italy. The crew consists of two men seated one behind the other, which makes the cockpit a long and compartmented space with different equipment at the two stations. The designation GR.1 belongs to the British strike version, intended for attacking ground targets. It is precisely with a two-seat cockpit that a detail set makes the most sense, because it enlarges the area the viewer is looking at.
Wash the parts first in lukewarm soapy water so that no mold release agent is left on them. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc, never break them, and level the surface on sandpaper. Into a plastic kit the resin cockpit tub is usually glued only after part of the original interior and sometimes also the inner walls of the fuselage have been sanded away: proceed in small steps and keep testing whether the fuselage can still be closed dry. It is glued with super glue. Always put a primer under resin before painting. The interior stands out when a dark wash is applied over the base color and the edges are brightened with a dry brush.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. It is not a kit of an airplane but an accessory for one. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Use respiratory protection when sanding resin.
