A set of figures of fighter pilots of the Royal Flying Corps in 1:32 scale, the second in the line. It rounds out a model of a British First World War aircraft and the display around it.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Royal Flying Corps was the flying corps of the British army. It came into being in 1912 and in April 1918 it joined with the Royal Naval Air Service into the Royal Air Force, so its pilots belong to the time of the first aerial combats. They flew in the open cockpits of biplanes, where it was mainly leather clothing, a helmet and goggles that gave protection.
A figure beside an aircraft gives a model scale and a story. Only by a figure does the viewer see how small the machines of the time were and how cramped the cockpit must have been. In 1:32 scale an adult figure measures roughly five and a half centimeters, so the features of the face and the folds of the clothing stand out too. The number two in the name tells this set apart from the others in the same line; the exact composition is given by the manufacturer's instructions.
Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry. Cut the excess material and the traces of manufacture away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the area down with fine sandpaper. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts. Painting is done in thin layers: first the basic tone, then a darker shadow in the folds and at the end a lighter touch on the raised places.
The set is for modelers who build an aircraft as a scene with people. Unless stated otherwise, the aircraft model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery.
