Stencils for the ceremonial tiger finish of the Slovak two-seat MiG-29UB and UBS in the large 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Slovak Air Force was among the operators that kept the MiG-29 well into the twenty-first century, and its machines turned up regularly at the tiger squadron meets. It is from there that the striking finish with a tiger motif comes, the sort you will never see on an ordinary combat aircraft. The two-seat UB build served for training, while the UBS version went through a modification of its avionics to a Western standard.
The film covers the drawing of the ceremonial scheme and also the accompanying areas of the fuselage and the tail. A motif of this kind has irregular, broken outlines which are very hard to trace by hand, and an error of a millimeter shows at once in a large scale. A stencil holds the boundary, so the modeler concentrates only on layering the shades and on the thickness of the pass.
The recommended procedure is to spray from light to dark and to let the paint flash off properly between coats. The stencils are then taken off in the reverse order from the one in which they were applied, so that a coat still soft underneath is not torn away.
The individual parts of the motif are laid out on the sheet so that they can be taken off one after another, without needlessly bending the neighboring pieces. The remaining area of the film will serve to cover places the paint is not meant to stray onto.
Store it flat, so that the adhesive layer does not wrinkle.
