Eduard painting masks for spraying the spiral on the propeller spinner of the Fw 190D in 1:32 scale. The masks in kabuki (washi) tape let you create a regular spiral on the spinner by spraying directly, without laborious lining by hand. They hold well even on a curved surface and leave no adhesive residue once removed.
The Fw 190D, nicknamed Dora, was a late version of the Fw 190 fighter with a lengthened fuselage and a V engine instead of a radial. That improved performance at higher altitudes above all, and the machine was among the finest German fighters of the closing stages of the Second World War. The striking spiral on the propeller spinner was a frequent recognition mark on this version too.
Spray the spinner with the base color of the spiral, then once it is dry stick the mask on, press it onto the curved surface and spray over it with the second color. Then take the mask off while the paint has only just dried. Spraying gives a regular, clean spiral of a kind that is hard to achieve by painting by hand.
Masks are not a model. This is a set of masking tapes for the given type; the kit itself, the paints and the glue have to be obtained separately.
