A set for spraying the British roundels and the tail band on the Spitfire Mk.V in 1:32 scale. The symmetry is held by the stencil, not by your hand.
Responsibility details are not available.
Stencils for transferring the national insignia of the Royal Air Force onto a large model of the fighter with an airbrush. The kit whose shapes the set matches is named in the designation of the item.
British roundels went through several forms during the war. At the beginning it was a wide multicolored circle; later a simplified two-color form settled on the upper surface of the wing and a vertical band was added on the tail. Along with them go the two-letter squadron code and the individual letter of the machine on the sides of the fuselage. From their form and dimensions a particular machine can be placed within a fairly narrow window of time.
A roundel gives away every inaccuracy. It is enough for one ring to come out a tenth of a millimeter thicker than on the other side and the eye notices it before anything else on the model. A stencil holds the proportion of the circles set and identical on both sides of the machine. Apply the paint thinly and in several passes, so that the edge does not clog and the transition between the colors stays legible even after a clear coat. Keep checking that the stencil has adhered all round.
