DK Decals 1:32 Spitfire Mk.VI/VII/IX — Decal Sheet

This sheet of wet (water-activated) decals from the manufacturer DK Decals brings a rich choice of markings for high-altitude Supermarine Spitfire fighters for models in 1:32 scale. It is not a model; it is a decal set with which you finish your model in a particular historical guise. The sheet focuses on the high-flying variants of the Spitfire, that is, the pressurized Mk.VI and Mk.VII as well as the widespread Mk.IX, and offers a large number of color schemes with the codes of various squadrons and the personal markings of aces.

The real subject

The Spitfire Mk.VI and Mk.VII came about as an answer to German high-altitude reconnaissance and bombing flights; they received a longer wing and a pressurized cockpit for combat at great heights. The Mk.IX then combined the proven airframe with the powerful Merlin 60 engine and became one of the most widespread and most successful Spitfires of the whole war.

Application tips

• Apply the decals over a smooth gloss coat, so that no silvering bubbles form under the film.
• Use a decal softener so that the decal settles into the engraved lines and onto curved surfaces.
• Once dry, spray a matte or semi-gloss clear coat over them to even out the surface.

Who the sheet is for

• For builders of Spitfire Mk.VI, Mk.VII and Mk.IX models in 1:32 scale
• For anyone interested in the high-altitude variants and in the markings of particular aces and squadrons
• For modelers who want an alternative to the decals supplied in the box

The package contains only the decals. The model, paints and glue are not included.
