The two extra pieces are not marketing but a practical safeguard. Dischargers are fitted as the very last detail, when the model is finished and varnished, and that is exactly when it is easiest to drop one, lose it in the carpet or damage it while seating it. A reserve means that a single piece will not send you hunting for a replacement or improvising.
Dischargers differ between aircraft types in length, diameter and the shape of the transition at the root. This set matches the type used on the F-16, so use it on other machines only if you verify the identical shape against documentation. Look for the placement on the trailing edges of the flying and tail surfaces in photographs of the particular version; the number and position change between versions and upgrades.
Work over a light surface and with fine tweezers. Drill a hole in the trailing edge with a micro drill bit, try the depth dry and bond with a minute drop of super glue applied into the hole. Painting is usually not necessary; if you want it, apply the paint with a fine brush only after the part is seated, so that the root is not flooded. Do all of this after varnishing, decals and weathering.
This is an accessory to a model, not a standalone kit. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
