An Art Scale masking set for a model of the Grumman TBF-1C torpedo bomber and its license-built version the TBM-3 in 1:32 scale. The masks are cut to the shape of the glazing of the given kit, so the frames of the canopy and of the gun turret come out regular without cutting masking tape by hand.
Degrease the glass before sticking the masks on and let it dry. Carry the pieces of the mask with tweezers, press them down especially carefully on curves and in corners, and spray the paint in several thin coats. Thin coats matter so that the paint does not run under the edge of the mask. The one-sided finish covers one side of the glazing; the double-sided version of the same range adds the other side as well.
The Grumman Avenger was the heaviest carrier-borne torpedo bomber of the US Navy in the Second World War. The TBF-1C version came from Grumman's own production, while the TBM designation was carried by machines from license production, and it was those that made up most of the later batches. The model has extensive glazing including a long canopy over the pilot and a dorsal turret, so masking takes more time than on a single-seat fighter.
