The 1:32 USAF F-4E Phantom one-sided mask is a self-adhesive cut mask from Art Scale for covering the glazing and other areas while spraying a model from the Academy kit in the large 1:32 scale.

A cut self-adhesive mask from the Czech manufacturer Art Scale, cut to the outline of the glazing of the McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II fighter-bomber from the Academy kit in 1:32 scale. It is neither a kit nor decals but a painting aid: you stick the parts of the mask on the cockpit canopy and other areas, spray them over with the color of the frames and peel them off once dry. The word one-sided means that the mask covers the outer side of the glazing, unlike the double-sided version of the same line, which also holds parts for the inner side of the canopy.
The F-4E was the most widespread variant of the Phantom II. Against the earlier versions it received a built-in rotary cannon in the nose, a reworked radar and later leading-edge slats on the wing as well. A two-seat machine with powerful engines, it served as a multirole fighter-bomber and in US Air Force colors it was used extensively over Southeast Asia. The heavily divided cockpit canopy with two separate parts is among the elements that are very hard to paint with a brush, which is exactly why masks pay off on the Phantom.
Wash and degrease the glazing before masking. Lift the parts of the mask with tweezers and press them down with a wooden stick or a toothpick, so that the sharp edge settles into the engraved frame. Spray the paint in several thin coats, because a heavy coat runs under the edge and builds a ridge. Remove the mask while the paint has only just set, not after it has cured completely, and pull it sideways rather than straight up. Adhesive residue comes off with a cotton swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol, but take care with acrylic paints.
