A scenery material from the Czech manufacturer Model Scene, a specialist in diorama vegetation. It is not a loose scatter and not finished growth, but individual plants that are taken out of a colored cut sheet, shaped and planted into the terrain piece by piece. The product is given for 1:32 and 1:35 scale, that is for large vehicle and figure dioramas, where an individual plant reads well and it is worth dealing with it piece by piece.
The marsh marigold is a perennial herb of wetlands, stream banks, ditches and waterlogged meadows. It grows in dense clumps with round glossy leaves and strikingly rich yellow flowers that appear early in the spring, roughly from April to May. For a modeler it is a reliable signal: where there are marsh marigolds, there is water and spring. That is exactly why a handful of plants at a puddle, a ford or a ditch can anchor a whole scene in both time and place.
Take the plants out of the sheet with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, never tear them out. Bend the leaves slightly with tweezers and open them out into three dimensions, as a flat plant gives away that it came from a sheet. Plant them into a small hole in the terrain with a drop of cyanoacrylate or PVA glue. Irregularity is essential: make clumps of unequal density, leave open spaces between them and increase the density toward the water. Plant other vegetation around them as well, because in nature a single species never grows alone. Tone any light cut edges with a fine brush.
The material is supplied unpainted, for further work. The glue, the paints and the supporting structure are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
