Responsibility details are not available.
A 3D-printed kit capturing the American MJ-1A airfield truck for handling aircraft munitions in its late form. The scale is 1:48 and the maker is Reskit. It is not an aircraft model but a ground vehicle in its own right, which builds as a proper small model and shows best alongside an aircraft or in an airfield scene. Given the production technology it is aimed rather at more experienced modelers.
The MJ-1 is a low self-propelled truck of the US Air Force that serves to carry bombs and guided missiles to an aircraft and to lift them onto the pylons. The nickname Jammer has stuck among personnel since the 1950s, and equipment of this category is among the machines most often seen on ramps. The driver sits at the side of the vehicle so as to have a view of the loading platform at the front. The late form of the MJ-1A follows on from the earlier series; the manufacturer offers the individual versions separately.
Wash and degrease the 3D-printed parts before building, and remove the print supports step by step and by cutting, not by breaking. Make the joints with cyanoacrylate glue, best with the accelerator applied only once the part is in position. When sanding, work with respiratory protection and wet. The metal of the truck tends to be scuffed and dirtied by fuel and hydraulics, so after the base coat there is room for wear on the edges, greasy effects and dark washes in the inner corners.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted as a 3D-printed kit. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
