Pre-cut kabuki masking films for building the British Blackburn Buccaneer S.2B strike aircraft in 1:48 scale, in the EXPERT form.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Blackburn Buccaneer is a British two-seat strike aircraft which came into being for attack at low level and high speed. You can tell it by its massive fuselage with a markedly narrowed middle section, its high-set tail surfaces and the split air brake at the end of the fuselage. The S.2B version served with the Royal Air Force; the crew consisted of a pilot and a navigator sitting one behind the other.
The masking films are cut from a fine kabuki paper tape, which adapts well to the curve of a part and leaves no adhesive on the surface once taken off. Because the shapes are prepared in advance, you do not have to measure and cut tape directly on the model, where there is a risk of cutting into the plastic or into a coat already sprayed.
Stick the film onto a clean, degreased surface before spraying and press the edge down along its whole length so that paint does not creep under it. Apply several thin coats instead of one heavy one; otherwise a ridge forms at the edge of the mask, which breaks off when it is taken away and frays the transition. On glazing it works well to lay down the interior shade first and the outer finish only after it. Pull the mask away soon after the paint has dried, at a shallow angle to the surface and with the edge lifted by the tip of a blade.
The set will make the work easier for anyone who wants sharp transitions between colors and clean framing of the glazing on a large model without hours spent masking. The films are cut to the shape of the parts of a particular kit, so use them with the one they are prepared for. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
