This cast resin set replaces the simply rendered landing gear bays in the kit with a finely detailed casting with faithful structure of ribs, piping and inner walls. It is a refining accessory to a plastic model, not a kit in its own right.
The Douglas A-1 Skyraider was an American single-engine piston attack aircraft that became famous for the long time it could stay over the battlefield and for its great load of bombs and rockets. The A-1H version served with the US Navy and the US Air Force above all during the Vietnam War. Open, detailed landing gear bays raise the realism of a model markedly when it is seen from below.
Wash the parts to remove any mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks and fit them into the wing or fuselage; sometimes the surrounding plastic has to be thinned slightly. They are bonded with super glue, and gaps can be filled with putty. Spray the inside of the bays with a base color first, then bring out the detail with a wash.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
