A resin accessory set in 1:48 scale, intended to fit out a model of the British Westland Lynx shipboard helicopter in the HMA8 version. It is not a kit of the helicopter but an accessory that is fitted into a model in addition. Being marked as the first set in the range suggests that it is one of several sets for the same type, which can be used on their own as well as alongside each other.
The Westland Lynx was a British multipurpose helicopter which became famous for its agility and, in its land version, for speed records as well. The naval HMA8 version served with the Royal Navy as a shipboard machine on frigates and destroyers and carried out anti-ship as well as anti-submarine tasks. The recognition feature of this version is the rotating surveillance radar in the front and the revised avionics, which turned the Lynx into the full eyes and striking arm of a ship far beyond the horizon. It is on shipboard machines in particular that detail shows, because they are displayed with the blades spread and with the panels off.
Wash the resin parts first in warm soapy water, so that no mold release agent is left on the surface and the paint holds. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw, not with nippers, or the part may crack. Sand wet and with respiratory protection. Glue the parts with super glue and use a thin primer before applying paint. A dry assembly without glue always pays off with resin accessories.
