Responsibility details are not available.
This set from Black Dog deals with the fuselage spine of the Grumman F-14 Tomcat carrier fighter in 1:72 scale. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory with which the corresponding part of the plastic component is replaced. A resin casting will carry a finer surface texture, sharper edges on the panel divisions and small shapes that an injection mold can manage only to a limited extent at this scale.
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was a two-seat carrier fighter with a variable-geometry wing, brought into service with the US Navy in the mid-1970s. It served as a carrier of long-range guided missiles and protected carrier task forces from air attack. The spine of the fuselage between the cockpit and the fins is a prominent shape on the Tomcat with a number of fairings, antennas and vents, so the difference in rendering shows at first glance even on so small a model.
Wash the parts first in lukewarm soapy water, so that the mold release residue disappears. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and never snap them off. Sanding should be done wet and with respiratory protection. Resin is joined with super glue. A dry test before you seat the part for good pays off, because the plastic fuselage usually has to be cleaned up first. Apply a primer before painting, which will ensure adhesion on a smooth surface.
