Holographic film for the Type 90 tank imitates the rainbow sheen of the glass of vision blocks and periscopes on a model in 1:35 scale. The cut matches the Tamiya kit.

A set of holographic film for a model of the Japanese Type 90 main battle tank in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit but a small accessory for the build: the cut pieces of film are stuck onto the glass of vision blocks, periscopes and optics, where they imitate the rainbow sheen of real glazing. The cut is made for the Tamiya kit.
The optics of combat vehicles have a coating on the surface that changes color in the light from green to violet. On a scale model this is one of the most striking details of all, because the eye reads it as glass immediately. A painted plastic vision block will never give that impression, even when it is coated with gloss varnish. That is exactly why holographic films suit modern vehicles.
Work only once the vehicle has been painted. Degrease the surface and clear it of dust, lift the film off with smooth-jawed tweezers and press it down from the middle toward the edges. Trim the overhang with a fresh blade resting against the edge of the part. The film is applied dry; no glue and no decal softener are used. Do not spray matte varnish over the finished detail, as that would lose the very effect the film is applied for.
