Six forty-liter milk cans for dioramas in 1:35 scale. An accessory, not a kit: the cans are placed beside a finished model, on the bed of a vehicle or on a base next to figures.
The large sheet-metal milk can belonged to the countryside and to army rear areas throughout the twentieth century. It was carried on horse carts, on the beds of trucks and on sledges, it stood by the gate of a farm, by a field kitchen and by a well. That is exactly why it is rewarding: the viewer recognizes it at once and thanks to it the scene gains the civilian, inhabited cast that military vehicles alone never have. Six pieces allow a whole group to be set out, not just a lone object.
A tinned or aluminum surface comes out more convincingly over a darker base, because on it the metal shade gains depth. Alternate two or three tones so that the cans do not look like copies from one mold: one may be freshly scrubbed, a second tarnished, a third with worn paint over the metal. Suggest dented edges with the tip of a brush in a lighter metal and dust the undersides with pigment to match the terrain they stand on. The caps and the handles deserve a different shade from the body, because they were touched most often and the paint disappeared from them first.
