1:35 5t Pallet Truck & Wooden Pallet with 200 Litre Oil Drum and Plastic Barrel

A pallet truck, a pallet and drums in 1:35 scale from Gecko Models

This set is neither a vehicle model nor a figure, but a group of accessories with which the background of a scene is filled. According to the name it consists of a hand pallet truck with a capacity of five tons, a wooden pallet, a 200 liter oil drum and a plastic drum. Together it is the typical equipment of a store, a workshop, a supply point or an airfield rear area, that is places where materiel is handled.

Why handling equipment in particular

A hand pallet truck is one of the most widespread pieces of handling equipment of all, and in a similar form it has been in use for decades. That is exactly why it suits scenes from the Second World War to the present day and does not tie you to one era. A 200 liter drum is just as versatile; fuels, oils and chemicals are carried in such containers, and in a diorama it serves as a rewarding carrier of weathering, dents and spilled stains.

How to work the set into a scene

• Arrange the accessories so that they lead the eye toward the main model, not away from it
• The wood of the pallet is brought to life by different shades on the individual boards and by dry brushing
• The drum and the barrel will take plenty of weathering, as rust holds at the rims, the lower edge and the lid
• Spilled oil is made by a gloss clear varnish applied spot by spot, not across the whole area
• Dirty the wheels of the truck with pigment the same color as the surface beneath them

Who the set is for

For builders of dioramas in 1:35 scale who are building a store, a workshop, a supply point or an airfield rear area and need convincing equipment around the main model. It will also serve well as a practice object on its own for weathering metal and wood.

Paints, glue and a base for the diorama are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
