The A6M2 Zero is a Japanese carrier fighter of the beginning of the war in the Pacific. Alongside the parent production, a number of aircraft were built under license by Nakajima, which is what this set is aimed at. In 1:35 scale the cockpit is large, and an open canopy will show practically all of it, so every detail of a well-worked interior shows.
Color three-dimensional elements for the instrument panel, the side panels, the seat with its belts and other surfaces of the pilot's compartment. The instruments, scales and markings are finished in color, and thanks to the real thickness of the elements they stand proud of the surface, so the interior does not look like flat printing. The elements are printed on decal backing paper: the part is cut out, soaked in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slid off the paper into place. It has no adhesive layer of its own and holds reliably on gloss varnish.
First level the surfaces in the cockpit, remove any burrs, degrease them and go over them with gloss varnish, for example Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22. Soak the cut-out element in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds, slide it off the paper into place and press it into the recesses with a rounded tool; on a broken-up shape a drop of super glue helps. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as the chemistry attacks the printed resin. Trim any overhang with a sharp blade. Finish the cockpit before you close the fuselage and fit the canopy.
The set is for modelers who want their cockpit finished in color without painting tiny instruments with a brush. In 1:35 scale the difference from hand-painted instruments shows at first glance. The package contains only the sheet with the elements; the kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
