A decal set from Star Decals for modelers who build British vehicles deployed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The name states that the material aims at the Challenger I and Challenger 2 tanks, at the Scimitar CVR(T) tracked reconnaissance vehicle and at the FV432 Mk 2 armored personnel carrier. It is not a kit but an accessory with which you give a finished model a particular allegiance.
The SFOR mission, that is the Stabilisation Force, took over the tasks of the preceding IFOR operation in December 1996 and served in Bosnia and Herzegovina for a number of years afterwards. The British contingent in it combined older and newer hardware: alongside the Challenger I tanks the Challenger 2 appeared step by step, reconnaissance was handled by the light tracked Scimitar of the CVR(T) family and the infantry was carried by the veteran FV432, which had served with the British army since the 1960s. The vehicles of the peacekeeping force carried conspicuous recognition signs which set them apart from hardware in ordinary combat form.
On the dark green and black camouflage of British hardware, light signs stand out best when you lay them onto a smooth gloss interlayer of varnish. Once it has dried, even the surface out with a matte varnish and only then lay on dust and mud effects, so that the markings do not look like paper glued onto an otherwise dusty vehicle.
