A resin casting captures the small details of the clothing and the equipment more sharply than injection-molded plastic. Driver figures tend to be modeled with the limited space of the position in mind, so it is a good idea to try seating them into the model before gluing and painting, and to adjust the position of the arms if need be. The figure tends to be split into a torso, a head and arms; the parting lines are led so that a collar or a fold of a sleeve hides them once glued.
First wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap and let it dry out thoroughly. Cut the casting block off with a saw and level the surface with a file and sandpaper, with your airways protected. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue, fill the gaps with filler and sand them down before you apply a primer. If the figure fits into the position only partly, paint it separately from the model and seat it only at the end. Build the uniform from a base tone, lighten the edges of the folds and let a darker wash into the recesses; the contrast has to be stronger than it looks natural, because in a small scale the shadows get lost. Handle the difference between fabric, leather and metal mainly by degree of gloss. Finish the face and the hands with oil paints. At the end knock the whole figure back with a matte clear coat.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
