Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of the British Archer self-propelled anti-tank gun in 1:35 scale from the Japanese brand Tamiya. The model faithfully captures this distinctive vehicle with its elongated chassis derived from the Valentine tank and with the open fighting compartment, in which the gun and its breech are clearly visible. The package is stated to hold crew figures and several marking variants as well.
The Archer came about in the Second World War as a quick answer to the need for a more effective anti-tank weapon. A powerful 17-pounder gun was mounted on the chassis of the Valentine infantry tank, and unusually it faced to the rear so that it would fit into the cramped space. The vehicle therefore moved in the opposite direction to the one the barrel pointed. The Archer served with British and Allied units from the autumn of 1944 to the end of the war, and it stayed with the British Army into the early 1950s.
With military hardware it pays to assemble and paint the running gear and the interior of the fighting compartment before the hull is closed. Use thin modeling cement on the plastic, treat the surface with a primer and lay the colors on with an airbrush. Washes and pigments for mud and dust effects round out the look.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
