The commander of a British Sherman in the Pixie suit, 1:35 from the manufacturer PANZER ART is a single figure for the open hatch of a commander's cupola.
Responsibility details are not available.
A single figure from the PANZER ART line devoted to British tankers. The figure is conceived as the commander of a vehicle in the one-piece Pixie oversuit, that is in the pose modelers most often look for for the open hatch of a commander's cupola. According to the name it belongs to a British Sherman, but it will come into its own on other Allied equipment of the same period too.
The commander directed the work of the whole crew, searched out targets and kept contact with the other vehicles. British practice laid it on him to fight if possible with his head above the hatch, because from a closed turret awareness of the surroundings is minimal. A figure with its torso run out of the turret is therefore not a modeling license but the ordinary picture of the fighting in north-western Europe in 1944 and 1945.
Set the figure into the turret first without glue and adjust the lower edge so that it sits at the height the hatch has. Tone the uniform as well as the oversuit down into earthy tones and draw the transitions between the folds out with a lighter touch. Suppress the gloss to a minimum; the padded cloth of the oversuit did not shine in reality. Paint the head separately while it is easily accessible from all sides; once seated in the cupola, a brush will reach it only from the front.
