Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet BTM-3 high-speed trench digger in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The model is richly broken down, with a multi-part hull, individual (link-by-link) track links and photo-etched parts. Because of the large number of parts it is a demanding kit, suited to more experienced builders.
The BTM-3 is a Soviet engineer trench-digging machine built on a tracked chassis derived from tank hardware. It served to dig trenches and shelters for soldiers and vehicles quickly: thanks to its powerful rotary digging wheel it could cut long trenches substantially faster than digging by hand. It was a typical piece of equipment of the engineer units that prepared field fortifications.
First assemble and paint the running gear and the link-by-link tracks, and only then finish the hull. The rotary digging wheel is the dominant feature, so give it attention and bring it out with weathering. Glue the parts with a thin plastic cement and the photo-etch with cyanoacrylate. After the base coat and the varnish, add strong mud and earth effects with pigments, which look natural on an earthmoving machine.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
