Canvas cover for the Schwimmwagen 1:35 from PANZER ART: a resin casting of the folded canvas top for a model of the amphibious car. It is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin accessory in 1:35 scale represents the canvas top of the German Schwimmwagen amphibious car. It is not a kit, but a part with which you cover the open crew area on a finished model. The canvas has raised seams, folds and hems, that is, shapes that are difficult to make in plastic, and it changes the whole impression of the vehicle.
The Volkswagen Type 166, known as the Schwimmwagen, was a small amphibious car with all-wheel drive and a folding boat propeller at the rear. It served reconnaissance and engineer units, because it could cross a watercourse without a bridge. The crew rode in an open tub and had only a simple canvas stretched over folding bows against rain and cold. A car with the canvas fitted looks quite different from an open one, so it is a rewarding variant for a diorama.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent and remove the mold release agent. Cut off the casting block with a saw and true the surface with a file, and protect your airways while sanding. Resin is bonded with super glue, that is, with cyanoacrylate. Before gluing, try the part dry on the body, because dimensions differ between kits. The canvas comes out well when you lighten the base shade on the ridges of the folds and let a dark seeping coat into the hollows.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
