An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Challenger 2 main battle tank in its KFOR deployment form in Kosovo, in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. This edition captures the tank fitted with a front dozer blade, which the vehicles used to clear obstacles. The model includes the massive welded turret with its long gun and the hull with side skirts over the running gear. The box contains gray plastic, a decal sheet for the Kosovo deployment and tracks; the exact numbers of parts and schemes differ between editions.
The Challenger 2 is a British main battle tank brought into service in the 1990s, armed with a 120 mm rifled gun and protected by composite armor. British tanks were deployed with peacekeeping and stabilization forces in the Balkans, among them the multinational KFOR force in Kosovo. The dozer blade at the front allowed the tanks to clear barricades, build shelters and carry out engineering tasks during operations.
First assemble the running gear, the wheels and the tracks while the hull is still accessible, and only then fit the dozer blade and the side skirts. Apply a primer and then the finish; British vehicles in the Balkans generally wore a uniform green color. Bring out the panel lines and the rivets with a dark wash and pick out the exhausts and the edges with a dry brush. Dust the blade and the lower areas thoroughly with mud and dust pigments, because engineering work is exactly what dirties the vehicle heavily, and that gives the model an authentic look.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
