Figures in 1:35 scale

An item from the figure section in 1:35 scale, that is in the most widespread size for models of ground vehicles. An adult figure in this scale stands about five centimeters tall, so the face, the equipment and the folds of the clothing all tell on it and there is something to show shading on. What exactly the package contains and how many parts it consists of is given in the manufacturer's instructions.

What figures are good for on a model

A figure is the simplest way to give a model scale. Beside a vehicle a viewer immediately recognizes how tall it really was, and at the same time the scene gains a story: one man leans on a fender, another points the way, another passes a tool. It also serves well on a model standing alone on a base, where a single figure beside the hull is enough to stop the tableau looking empty.

Building and painting tips

• Try the arrangement of the figures dry, while they can still be moved.
• Cut the excess material and the traces of manufacture away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the surface.
• Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap and degrease them, otherwise the paint holds badly.
• Apply the paint in thin layers, as a heavy layer floods the detail of the face and the equipment.
• A darker glaze run into the folds and a lighter pass over the raised edges will give the clothing depth.
• The suitable glue for the material used is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
