This item is not a model of a tank but a small detail set from the brand Elefant. It replaces the lifting handles on the deck of the engine compartment of the British Chieftain tank, in the variant corresponding to the early marks. In a plastic kit the handles are usually molded as part of the deck, that is thick, flat and with no space under the eye, which is very visible when seen from above. A resin casting allows a thinner rendering truer to the shape. The set is enough for one vehicle, as the name states. A variant for the later marks is offered separately, so check before buying which one you are building.
The Chieftain is a British main battle tank brought into service in the 1960s. It was distinguished by heavily sloped frontal armor, by the reclining position of the driver when the hatch was closed and by a 120 mm gun with separate-loading ammunition. During its service it went through a series of modernizations, which showed on the external details of the hull and the engine compartment as well. It is precisely by small things such as the shape of the handles, the grilles or the covers that the individual production batches differ from one another.
First cut the original molded handles off carefully with a scalpel or a razor saw and sand the area flat. Wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water, so that any mold release residue does not prevent the paint from adhering. Cut the casting blocks off; do not break them. Glue the parts with cyanoacrylate glue, as the gel variant gives you time to set them. Apply a primer before painting. On an engine deck a contrasting emphasis comes into its own, that is a darker wash in the recesses around the handles and drybrushing of the edges.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
