A round plaque 40 mm in diameter devoted to the British Desert Rats. An accessory for marking a base, the base plate of a diorama or a display case.
Responsibility details are not available.
The nickname Desert Rats was earned in the Second World War by the British 7th Armoured Division, which went through the heavy fighting of the North African campaign. The name took hold after the jerboa, a small desert rodent whose likeness the division put into its emblem. After the fighting in North Africa ended, units with this emblem went on in Italy and later in western Europe. The nickname then passed to the British formations that took up this tradition after the war.
It is a round plaque 40 mm in diameter, that is an accessory for a diorama. It is used for marking a base, a base plate or a display case with a scene featuring British equipment and figures. The finish, the material and the recommended method of fixing are given in the manufacturer's instructions, so look into them before gluing.
It looks best on the front edge of a base, where the viewer will read it without its drawing attention away from the scene. Try the layout dry and only then glue the plaque on. Rid the ground of dust and grease beforehand. With a round shape every rotation shows, so check the position against the edge of the board before you press it down.
It suits a modeler who is building a desert scene, a British vehicle or figures from the North African campaign and wants to add a neat marking to finished work. A diameter of 40 mm matches a smaller base rather than a large one. The model itself, a base, figures, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
