An injection-molded plastic kit of the passenger car Citroën Traction Avant 11CV in 1:35 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Tamiya. The model captures the elegant rounded body with faithfully shaped fenders, openable front doors and a well worked-out interior — the dashboard and the front and rear seats alike. A driver figure and several marking options for civil and military configurations are usually included. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Citroën 11CV (Traction Avant) was built from 1934 until 1957 and was among the best of European car production of its time. It stood out for its unitary body, front-wheel drive, low center of gravity and torsion bar suspension, which gave it excellent handling. During the Second World War it became a typical car — after the fall of France the Wehrmacht used it on a large scale as a staff and liaison car, but it also appeared in the service of the resistance and of police forces. They were driven across Europe, Russia and North Africa.
On a passenger car the surface of the body plays the main role — on the civil version a gloss finish applied with an airbrush and polished comes out well, while on the military configuration more matte period shades do. It is a good idea to treat the body with a primer before painting and to sand any joints gently. The interior and the chassis deserve a fine wash to bring out the detail; on field vehicles dust and mud pigments can be added to the lower areas. Mask the glass and the chrome fittings last.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
