LAV Polizia, a complete resin kit (1:35, DEF Model)

This is a complete kit in resin of a wheeled armored car in police guise (Polizia) in 1:35 scale. Unlike add-on detail sets it holds the whole model, which once assembled makes a standalone armored car. The maker is DEF Model, which specializes in resin models, conversions and details. As an all-resin kit it is better suited to more experienced modelers.

The real subject

Light wheeled armored cars of this type serve on patrol, escort and public order duty. The police version (Polizia) is deployed to protect premises, to escort and to intervene where armor protection for the crew is needed. The wheeled chassis gives the vehicle good mobility on paved roads.

Building and painting tips

First wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap to remove any mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a sharp tool or a fine saw, never snap them. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue, as cement for plastic does not hold on resin. Lay down a primer before painting; build the police scheme up from the base color, add the markings and the light bars, and keep the patina light so that the vehicle looks like a maintained machine in service.
