Plastic kit of the Cromwell Mk.IV — the fast British cruiser tank of the Second World War, in 1:35 scale from Tamiya.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British cruiser tank Cromwell Mk.IV (type A27M) from Tamiya. The model faithfully captures the characteristic riveted hull and turret and the large road wheels that made the tank so fast in the field. Parts for the Normandy configuration are included as well — exhaust covers to keep fumes out of the vehicle and hedge cutters mounted on the nose. A tank crewman figure and several decal options are in the package too.
The Cromwell was one of the main British cruiser tanks of the closing period of the war. It was powered by the capable Rolls-Royce Meteor engine, which gave it high speed for its time — hence those large road wheels. It was committed from the Normandy landings in 1944 and distinguished itself above all in the fast advances pursuing the retreating enemy across northern France, Belgium and the Netherlands, where its mobility told.
Finish and paint the running gear and the wheels before you close up the hull. Glue the plastic with thin modeling cement, lay down a primer before painting and spray the paint with an airbrush — the base is usually British khaki green. For weathering, use washes into the rivets and the recesses and pigments for dust and mud on the running gear and the lower hull. Paint the crewman figure separately before you set him into the turret.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
