This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Gecko Models captures the British Austin K2/Y heavy ambulance in its early war form. According to the manufacturer the package contains, besides the plastic parts, photo-etched parts, decals and a figure of the driver. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Austin K2/Y was a British 4x2 heavy ambulance of which more than thirteen thousand were built between 1939 and 1945. It was powered by a six-cylinder engine of around 60 horsepower and, weighing over three tons, the vehicle could reach a speed of about 80 km/h. It carried four stretchers, or a group of seated wounded. Its characteristic box body made it one of the best-known Allied ambulances of the war.
With an ambulance it pays to finish the interior of the body and the cab before closing the whole up. Glue the photo-etched parts with super glue and the plastic with thin cement for plastic. Treat the surface with a base color, spray the body with an airbrush and bring out the panels and rivets with a fine wash; paint the figure of the driver separately.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
