Wheels of the standardized Einheitsdiesel Kfz. 61 off-road chassis in 1:35 with a tread of the third type from the Continental brand, in the rendering without the covering ring.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Hanover tire works was among the main suppliers of tires for the German army, and its off-road tread differs from competing patterns in the arrangement of the blocks into distinct chevrons. In period photographs the difference is apparent even through a layer of mud, so the choice of tread is no small matter if you are building to a particular subject. The third type of pattern, which this set carries, is the Continental one.
The chassis with drive to all wheels arose out of an effort to simplify the supply of spare parts. Unified drawings were taken over by several manufacturers at once and the machines from the different gates differed only in small details. The body designated Kfz. 61 belonged to the signals troops; it carried a telephone exchange and with its crews reached most of the battlefields on which the German army moved in the first years of the war.
After taking it off the casting block, look at the casting against the light to see whether any flash has stayed in the grooves of the tread. Any small bubbles can be filled with super glue and sanded over. When painting it helps to start from the tire and finish the rim last, because the sharp boundary between rubber and metal is the first thing the eye notices on a finished vehicle.
