The Flettner Fl 282 Kolibri is a German light helicopter of the Second World War. What makes it unusual is the arrangement of its rotors: it carries two lifting rotors on shafts set at an angle, whose blades intermesh with one another. The arrangement does without a tail rotor and keeps the machine short and agile. The Kolibri was tried for observation, liaison and patrol work over the sea, including take-offs from shipboard platforms. The designations V-6, V-21 and V-23 belong to individual test machines, which differed from one another in detail.
The set brings two things together: masks for the insignia and masks for the landing gear wheels. A sprayed marking has none of the glossy carrier film of a decal, and a mask on a wheel makes it possible to separate the tire from the rim without laboriously blocking off all the way round with tape. The cut is prepared for the MiniArt kits in 1:35 scale, as the name of the set states. The manufacturer's instructions describe the scope of the sheet and the position of the individual items.
The masks are applied before spraying. Let the base shade cure properly, then offer the mask up and press its edge down; with the circular masks for the wheels, pressure from the center outward helps. Apply the paint in several thin coats. Take the masks off while the paint is still fresh. Transfer the small items with tweezers, so that they do not crease.
The set suits builders who do not want to block off wheels with tape and who want their insignia sprayed. The package holds masks; paints, glue and the kit itself are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
