About product

The APH-6D flight helmet as an accessory to a figure

A separately made APH-6D flight helmet for modelers who are building a pilot figure or finishing a cabin. Helmets of this type were worn by the crews of American machines; the APH-6D designation distinguishes one of the renditions of the range. The accessory also suits wherever the helmet lies set aside in the cockpit, on the seat or on the wing.

Why it pays off

The head and the helmet are the first thing on a figure that the viewer looks at. The helmet on a boxed figure tends to be only roughly suggested and lacks both the crisp edges of the shell and the seating of the visor. A separate part solves this shortcoming, and it can moreover be worked on apart, that is painted in the hand and seated right at the end.

Building and painting tips

  • Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest off carefully.
  • Wash the part and degrease it before painting, otherwise the paint holds badly.
  • The part is not of polystyrene; it is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, not with liquid cement for plastic.
  • Spray the shell smooth, leave the visor glossy and bring the straps out with a thin brush right at the close.

Who it is for

For builders of figures and cabins who want equipment more faithful than a figure out of the box offers. Before buying, compare the size of the part with the figure you want to seat it on.

The package contains only the accessory stated. The figure, the model, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

It is not. It is a separate helmet, that is a single item of equipment. The figure you seat it on and the model have to be your own.

The range is made in variants for several sizes of figures. Compare the size of the part with the figure you want to use it on before buying, therefore.

With cyanoacrylate glue. Liquid cement for polystyrene does not work here, because the part is not of polystyrene.

Wash it and degrease it first, then spray the base shade of the shell on smoothly. Leave the visor glossy and draw the straps in with a thin brush right at the end.
