The Ford 917 T was a heavy truck used during the Second World War, among other places in German service. In winter conditions the crews draped the engine compartment with a canvas to protect the unit from frost and to make starting easier. Such improvised insulation is typical of period photographs.
Wash the mold release agent off the part, cut off the casting block and clean the mating surfaces up. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate), and do the sanding with respiratory protection. Pick the fabric texture of the canvas out with a base coat and a dry brush; fine-tune the creases with a wash and a light dusting of pigments.
