A new-generation armored off-road vehicle

The GAZ-233014 is a modern multi-purpose vehicle built to move infantry in terrain where an ordinary truck cannot get through. It combines armor protection for the crew with all-wheel drive and high ground clearance; it therefore suits escorting convoys, reconnaissance and carrying groups into an area where small-arms fire is a threat.

From special operations to the parade

The vehicle found its way into a series of special deployments and gradually became a prominent element of the military parades on Red Square. Military specialists have rated it well, and the machine turned into a showcase of the modernization of the Russian army. A whole family of modifications grew out of the basic chassis, from carriers of anti-tank weapons to vehicles with light armament on the roof.

Building and painting

The model has hard body edges and large areas of glass, so it pays to prepare the masking of the windows before you start on the finish; the window frames are narrow and a painted-over seam shows at once. The tires with their coarse tread will take dusting with pigment, but it is good to leave a clear transition between the dirtied sidewall and the cleaner tread surface. Anyone building the vehicle in parade finish will get by with a clean single-color coat and polished glass.

Plastic sprues to be glued are included. Paints and glue are not included. Because of the glazing of the cab it is worth having masking tape or ready-made masks to hand, because covering the narrow frames by hand takes more time than building the body itself.
